Tech Wars is a fun and friendly competition where techs can use their skills to compete against other technicians across Puckett Machinery Company and ultimately top techs at other Caterpillar dealerships to receive awards and prizes.
Competing technicians are given a set time to determine what’s wrong with the machine. On top of that, they have to complete written testing too. It’s a tough double-challenge to see just how good these guys really are. And we can tell you – we’ve got a bunch of sharp technicians!
Over the past few weeks, over 40 of our technicians from across the company have participated in our first round of TECH WARS competition. That includes written exams and hands-on troubleshooting. We learned we have a lot of very talented technicians in the process. To win, participants had to quickly and accurately diagnose machine and engine problems.
Thirteen technicians (the LUCKY THIRTEEN, we’re calling them) with the highest scores are now advancing to our final round in REPAIR ARENA next Thursday, March 9.
Two Puckett technicians will emerge victorious, advancing to the next round of competition – the 2023 Regionals hosted by Holt Cat in San Antonio, TX.
Welcome to Puckett Machinery’s REPAIR ARENA.
A machine is “bugged” (or made to not work properly) by our team of Technical Communicators. The good news is that solving tough machine problems is what our technicians do best!
We will be testing in four areas with two tasks to perform on a compact track loader and a mini excavator. There will also be a written exam and a failure analysis test.
The contestants with a combination of the highest test scores plus the fastest times win.
Sound simple? It’s not. To win, you’ve got to beat out a bunch of your co-workers—and they’re all experts at what they do.
This is competition at its toughest!
